Global Smartmatic continued their dominance in the United Football League as they defeated struggling Navy FC 2-1 in their first match after their hiatus from the league due to some player commitments to the National Team.

First Half
Global started the match dominating the possesion, and was given several chances on goal, however the defense of the Navy held firm, and was able to contain the Global defense in the 20th minute when the Navy counter resulted to a goal from Rocklint Viliran. However the goal they conceded was enough for the LBC-UFL Cup champions to bounce back as they tried to score an equalizer before half time, but Navy held firm and the first half ended with Navy leading 1-0, and with an unprecedented upset looming.

Second Half
The second half started very well for Global as they scored an equalizer two minutes in to the second half after an amazing run by Aaron Altiche kicking the ball from the edge of the box to the joyous celebration of the fans.

After the equalizer, Global looked like it was indeed going for a win as they pressed on the Navy half with their flurry of attacks. Navy, though defended very well and attempted to counter them, but a penalty call in the 79th minute was the turning point when Misagh Bahadoran was fouled inside the penalty area. Izo El Habbib converted the spot kick which gave Global the cushion they needed to remain unbeaten in the league.

It was not over as Navy stopper Martin Alcantara was sent off in the 89th minute after he kicked Bahadoran in the chest after saving the ball inside the penalty area resulting for another spot kick for Global. This time around though, Izo El Habbib failed to convert the spot kick as it deflected off the post, but the tie was already decided as Global remained on top of the league.
