Pictured above, Global FC after winning the UFL Cup at the expense of Air Force Rider in a mouth-watering final which saw Air Force comeback in the last 10 minutes of the match before a late late Global goal sealed the fate of the match.
This time around, Air Force wants payback.
The much awaited match of the round has finally come, the rematch of last season’s cup finalists. With the first round coming into conclusion, both teams are now head-to-head with Global currently ahead of Air Force by just one goal despite having the same number of points.
Global FC has the league’s top scorer in 24-year old Misagh Bahadoran, with 6 goals. Also another threat for Global FC is Izo El-habbib with 5 goals. However, Air Force has veteran Yanti Barsales, who drilled 3 goals in two consecutive games, and Surgeant Montillano has also been making an appearance in the score sheets. Aaron Altiche, Oguejiofor Cusmas, Chieffy Caligdong and Ian Araneta are also expected to deliver goals for their respective teams.
Both have only conceded goals to two teams in five games played, obtaining a clean sheet against their other opponents. This proves how formidable each team’s defense is. The challenge is breaking the other squad’s defense. They might even reckon perfecting their long shots.
Minus Cup Finals MVP and former Global loanee Aly Borromeo, will it be déjà vu all over again for Global Smartmatic or will Air Force Rider secure the top spot just for themselves? Until the final whistle, it ain’t over till it’s over.
