UFL Top 10-1

It has been three weeks since the 2011 season of the LBC United Football League ended and will take months to see the action resume once again. Let Soccer Central Philippines walk through you the “Ten Most Unforgettable Moments” in the UFL. Every other day, we will release two moments in ranking order, starting from 10 up to the top spot. Did your favorite moment made it?

Coming from the second division, Global Smartmatic FC entered the first division with an impression that they can be the league’s title contender. The first three inaguaral games of Global Smartmatic FC proved that they are a dominating and strong squad that will really challenge each and every team. Their first assignment was against then-Loyola Agila FC last February 24. Their inagural goal was courtesy of Aaron Altiche, followed by Oguejiofor Cusmas. Yet, what made news was the hat-trick performance then-Philippine National Men’s Futsal Team member Filipino-Iranian Misagh Bahadoran. Global won against Loyola 6-0. Their second opponent was then-Kaya Smart FC last February 27, and it was Bahadoran and Izzo El-habbib’s tandem shocked the opposing team 3-0. Finally, it was once again Bahadoran and El-habbib gave Global advantage in goal differences early in the first half when they faced Green Archers United Orient Freight last March 2. All those games ended on a clean sheet, credits to their goalkeeper Kenneth Delloso.

The Loyola Agila FC was one of the cellar-dwellers come the culmination of the first round. However, the club reorganized its play system and set-up as a team and was renamed Loyola Meralco Sparks FC. With such new set-up, they were able to acquire critical players, notably Darren and Mark Hartmann, known as the Hartmann brothers. Though they were not able to break-in to the top four slots of the league, they sure gave a hard time to all teams in the second half, as matches ended in either a draw or decisive win, and Mark Hartmann emerging as one of the league’s top scorers with 7 goals in just a span of three games.

Watch out for the 7th and 8th position on Thursday.
