10-man Global FC Triumphs Over Kaya FC

Global v Kaya 09192011

A lone goal from Izzeldin El Habbib was enough for Global FC to defeat Kaya FC in their opening fixture in an invitational that pits the two United Football League clubs and the Philippine National Team as their preparation for the Long Teng Cup which is set to kickoff next week.

El Habbib, UFL’s topscorer from last season, scored early in the match after the Kaya FC defense was caught sleeping when El Habbib made his attempt at goal.

However, Global had to continue the match with 10-men after goalkeeper Paolo Pascual was sent off after his save of Eric Dagroh’s shot forced him out of the penalty box. The referee had no choice but to give Pascual his marching orders, his second after the PFF-Smart National Clubs Championships in Cagayan De Oro.

Global held their firm however, as a fine defensive performance from both Valentine Kama and Azkals Under-23 defender Jerry Barbaso denied Kaya FC the equalizer giving Global FC the win.

Global FC is next set to face the Azkals, while Kaya FC will face the national team on Saturday. Kickoff is at 3:00pm at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
